Ray Blunt
Leadership Instructor and Coach, NCL Senior Mentor
Ray Blunt is the Senior Mentor responsible for NCL's course
on 'Godly Leadership in a Changing World'. He is the Associate
Director and Fellow of The Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation & Culture,
and brings a passion for developing “the next generation of servant
leaders.” For 35 years he served in leadership and senior executive
positions in the Air Force and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. For
the last ten years he has focused upon leadership development, organization
succession, and change management initiatives in public service and non-profit
organizations. He has served as faculty and consultant for the
Council for Excellence in Government, the Air Force Senior Leaders Program,
the National Academy of Public Administration, and the Federal Executive
Institute as well as for several other organizations. He is the
author of the research publication Developing Leadership: Growing the
Next Generation of Public Service Leaders and Leadership in the Crucible
an article on character and power. He recently wrote a three part
leadership series for the C.S. Lewis Institute, “Jefferson and
Wilberforce: Leaders Who Changed Their Times.” He is
B.J.'s husband of 41 years and the father of two grown children, and
grandfather of five aspiring servant leaders.
Vice Admiral Lewis Crenshaw
Deputy Chief of Naval Operations Resources, NCL Senior Fellow.
A native of Greenville, Alabama, Vice Admiral Crenshaw graduated from
the United States Naval Academy in 1974 and following flight training
earned his Naval Flight Officer wings. Throughout his career, as
an A-6 Intruder Bombardier-Navigator (B/N), Vice Admiral Crenshaw trained
in Attack Squadron Forty-two and served operationally in Attack Squadrons
Sixty-Five, Thirty-Four, and Eighty-Five, flying combat sorties during
Operation Eldorado Canyon (Libya 1986) and Operation Desert Storm (Iraq
1991). Selected for flag rank in July 1998, Vice Admiral Crenshaw
has assumed command of Commander, Carrier Group Six/Commander, John F.
Kennedy Battle Group, served as Director, Assessments Division (N81)
in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Deputy Commander Joint
Task Force-Southwest Asia, Commander Navy Region Europe, and Deputy Commander
U.S. Naval Forces Europe.
Vice Admiral Crenshaw assumed his current duties in November 2004. Vice
Admiral Crenshaw's awards include the Legion of Merit (1 Silver Star),
the Distinguished Flying Cross (Combat "V"), the Bronze Star,
the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious
Service Medal (1 Gold Star), Individual Air Medal (4 Gold Stars and Combat
V), Strike Flight Air Medal (Numeral 2), the Navy Commendation Medal
(3 Gold Stars and Combat "V"), various campaign and service
medals and the SSBN Deterrent Patrol Pin.
Dr. Gareth Icenogle
Senior Pastor & Head of Staff, National Presbyterian Church,
NCL Senior Fellow.
Dr. Gareth Icenogle was called as Senior Pastor of the National Presbyerian
Church in September 2004 prior to which he spent 14 years as the Senior
Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, PA. Before that he
has served other congregations in Dallas, Texas and Southern California.
He is also a trained church musician with graduate degrees in voice and
composition. He has taught for 20 years as a adjunct professor of Discipleship
and Christian Formation at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA
where he was also Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program in the late
1980’s. Dr. Icenogle teaches the intimate connection between leadership,
discipleship and small group community around Jesus Christ. His book,
Biblical Foundations for Small Group Ministry is used world wide as a
pivotal ministry text on leadership, discipleship and community in Christ.
He has been married to Vida Smith for 33 years. Together they have invested
a partnership of mutual leadership in both the marketplace and church.
They have two daughters, Tamara who works for the Nieman Marcus Corporation
as a buyer, and Tonya who is a research specialist in bio-medical engineering. Dr.
Icenogle is committed to understanding the Gospel as a leadership development
paradigm and Jesus Christ as the master trainer of healthy leaders.
Dr. Fredric Laughlin
Retired Managing Partner, Price Waterhouse, NCL Senior Fellow.
Dr. Fredric Laughlin was with Price Waterhouse and later with the merged
firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers for 29 years. He was Managing Partner
of Government Services of over 2000 professionals with responsibility
for management consulting to US, state, and international governments
for Price Waterhouse, member, US and International Boards of Price Waterhouse
and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He was also the chair of a committee to oversee
the merger of more than 100 Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand
firms worldwide. Dr. Laughlin is a former officer in US Army and a former
Elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He is the father of two
sons and the grandfather of five grandsons. He is currently consulting
to non-for-profit CEOs and Boards. Dr. Laughlin earned his
BS degree at the United States Military Academy and his MBA and DBA degrees
in Economics and Management Science from the George Washington University.
