The National Fellows Program in Leadership

The National Fellows Program in Leadership is an educational and fellowship experience for college or master’s level graduates who live and work in the Washington, DC area, and who have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to a Christ-centered life.

Now in its eighth year, this Fellows program has graduated 78 Fellows and continues to develop young leaders through intellectual inquiry, spiritual discipline and committed service.

The National Center for Leadership has developed a program of Christ-centered leadership that provides a framework within which one can study, evaluate and grow in leadership, founded upon the moral mandates of Scripture. Creating community with other program participants, engaging in community service, Bible study and leadership training, these emerging leaders examine their individual calls to leadership and professional vocation. Mentored by committed adults who have answered their own calls to leadership, Fellows participate in the program while engaged in full-time employment in the DC area, which provides a context for applying the newly examined qualities of leadership.

Throughout the program year, the Fellows will be engaged in

  • Clarifying calling
  • Discovering leadership characteristics
  • Recognizing wisdom
  • Articulating a vision for leadership
  • Serving others - practical application
  • Building relationships
  • Building community
  • Learning to respond appropriately to change

The Center believes that an encounter with Jesus Christ transforms a person, empowering that person, in turn, to transform institutions and communities. Our Fellows learn how to be intentional about living out their faith in everyday life and to recognize that leaders are change agents who influence others.
