About the CenterFounded in 1997 with support from The National Presbyterian Church, the Center is an independent 501(c)(3) organization formed to contribute to leadership excellence. The National Center for Leadership works to positively change society and the workplace by training leaders in ethical standards and moral values. The goal is to develop a leadership center characterized by excellence, innovation and accomplishment. The Center is supported solely through donations from individuals and grants from organizations. Our centerpiece is the National Fellows Program in Leadership. Through a competitive nomination and applications process, Fellows who are employed throughout the city are chosen to participate for an academic year, starting in September. Fellows are paired with Mentors who offer vocational and spiritual guidance throughout the year. Guest lecturers lead discussions on topics including leadership challenges, integrating leadership with a Biblical world view, leadership and character issues, and linking a Christ-centered faith with the workplace. Throughout the year, The Center offers Fellows many opportunities to become involved in the life of the nation's capital, and community service is a component of the program year. Other programs along a continuum of age and experience have evolved: Mentor training, the National Leadership Award, a Speakers series, an Alumni network and Partnerships in Leadership with like-minded organizations. |
